- Primary need
- People with disabilities need to be able to participate easily in social/societal activities of their choosing.
- Description
The Recreational Assistive devices (RAD) study aims to support people with mobility issues to be able to live active (outdoor) lifestyles and participate in recreational activities with their friends and family. The RAD project will work with participants with mobility impairments to develop and evaluate a recreational assistive device loan program and loan app. The loan program aims to enable people with mobility issues to participate in outdoor activities by renting out affordable assistive devices. Our goal is to determine the needs, interests, and challenges that people experience with the loan program and the associated mobile app. The RAD study is a partnership between researchers at the university of British Columbia and the RAD Society as well as several community organization and municipal partners.
