On Monday June 10th MAP students and partners met for the workshop titled: Models and Community Perspectives on Effective Modes of Knowledge Translation (KT). After learning from community partners about what makes KT effective, Joanie Bedard gave a presentation about the knowledge transfer process and different approaches to knowledge transfer.
After the presentation students attended a hands on workshop with KT experts (Joanie Bedard and Krista Best in Quebec and Lupin Battersby in Vancouver). Students collaborated in groups to brainstorm KT products, tools, and processes for MAP projects they are involved with. Students were then asked to answer a set of questions and prepare a PowerPoint to present to team members on June 11th. Here are some of the presentations that were created:
Students involved with the cycle lane project discussed the best ways to work with municipal and community organization research partners.
Led by MAP partner and PhD student Farrukh Chishtie, students discussed the impact of climate disasters on people with disabilities and the potential for a Climate disaster toolkit.
Student lead, Marie-Hélène discussed the Paratransit and Parents project and ways to spread awareness to the general population using music.
