Partnerships
- The Access to Fly team is excited to announce a new partnership with Paralyzed Veterans of America! Learn more about the work they do on accessible air travel by checking out their website HERE.
- Project Sidewalk is partnering with Burnaby Neighbourhood House to structure data collection with the youth leadership group, as well as older adults.
Grants
- The ICAN WALK project was awarded FRQS 2024-2026, Postdoctoral category. The project was ranked 2nd out of 21 by the FRQS selection committee! Congratulations Felix Nindorera, Krista Best, Bill Miller, and François Routhier!
- The Project Sidewalk team received SSHRC funding for a Partnership Engage grant to continue the neighbourhood mapping they started last summer in the City of Burnaby!
Knowledge Mobilization
- Congratulations to Atiya Mahmood and MAP SFU team members for the development of GERO 840: The “Developing Inclusive Urban Streetscape” course that was offered as a graduate course in Gerontology during the spring of 2024.
- students taking the course compiled a report and presented to the City of Vancouver. A presentation video was developed as a knowledge mobilization tool. Read the report and watch the video HERE.
Conferences
- MAP team members attended the REPAR Congress on May 23rd and 24th, 2024.
- Béatrice Ouellet, Marie-Hélène, Joanie Bédard, Félix Nindorera, Maëlle Corcuff, Claudel Mwaka, Alicia Ruiz Rodrigo and Margaux Hebinck participated in a poster session.
- Congratulations to Joanie for her poster that was voted the best by conference attendees!
- Krista Best hosted a Dragon’s Den activity at the conference!
- Ernesto Morales, Laura Monetta, and Alicia Ruiz Rodrigo did a presentation about AXC to Heritage!
- MAP team members attended the World Congress for Neurorehabilitation from May 22nd to 25th 2024
- The RAD team presented a poster on the barriers and facilitators of outdoor adaptive physical activity for individuals with mobility impairments!
- MAP team members attended the INCREASE BC conference on April 17th, 2024!
- Congratulations to Pegah Derakhshan who presented two posters:
- Improving participation and support for individuals with mobility impairments in leisure-time physical activities.
- Evaluation of the Quality of Current COVID-19 Resources Developed for Individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries
- The cycle lane project team presented a poster and was awarded the 2nd place poster prize for the afternoon session. Great job Alfiya Battalova, Tyrone Scales, Gillian Bever, Janice Chan, Jessie Hall, Bill Miller, Ben Mortenson, and Jodine Perkins!
